George Michael Sep 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) George Michael, the forty seven year old singer and former member of the group ‘Wham!’ has been sentenced to eight weeks in jail in the case of DUI and possession which he was arrested for on July 4 after he drove his SUV into a ‘London Snappy Snaps’ store while leaving the ‘gay Pride Parade’ in London.

When he was arrested, Michael was taken to a police station in North London, and released after he posted his bail. This means that he will not have any “time served” and will have to spend the entire 8 weeks in jail. He had ti return to a court appearance on August 24, where he was banned from driving for the next six months.

Michael was in possession of marijuana, and was driving under the influence when the accident occurred. It is not the first time in which the singer has had trouble for such actions. He had his drivers license revoked in 2007, and had to serve 100 hours of community service for driving while unfit. He made promises to his fans at that time that he would “sort himself out.”

In 2008, however, he was at it again, and was arrested in September of that year for possessing both Class A and Class C drugs, after being found in a public restroom with both crack cocaine and marijuana.

Although the singer seems to be on a reckless downward trainwreck with his life, he stated that he is very frustrated with the people who judge him for his drug use and casual sex acts. He said in a statement, “People want to see me as tragic with all the cottaging and drug-taking. I don’t see them as weaknesses any more. It’s just who I am. I’ve done different things at different times that I shouldn’t have done, once or twice, you know. Of course, nobody wants to regularly smoke crack.”
