Aug 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Forty seven year old singer and former member of the group ‘Wham!’ is facing drug charges along with driving under the influence after the incident which occurred on July 4 in which Michael drove his SUV into a building following a ‘Gay Pride’ parade in London which he had attended.

At the time of his arrest in July, Michael was taken to a police station which is located in North London, and released after posting bail. He had to return this month for a court appearance, on August 24 in Highbury, North London.

Michael was said to have been in possession of marijuana, and driving under the influence when he crashed into the front of the store. It is not the first time the singer has faced such charges. His drivers license was revoked in 2007 and he had to serve 100 hours of community service for very similar charges. At that time he plead guilty, and promised his fans that he would “sort himself out.”

After his 2007 incident and apologies to his fans, Michael was arrested in September of 2008 when he was caught in a public restroom with crack cocaine and marijuana. Last year, the singer did an interview in which he revealed that he had cut down his marijuana use, from twenty-five joints a day to “seven or eight”.

Michael said that he is very frustrated with those people who tend to judge him for his drug use, and casual gay sex acts, and stated, “People want to see me as tragic with all the cottaging and drug-taking. I don’t see them as weaknesses any more. It’s just who I am. I’ve done different things at different times that I shouldn’t have done, once or twice, you know. Of course, nobody wants to regularly smoke crack.”
