London, Aug 18 (IANS) Frank Sinatra’s daughter Tina has reportedly clashed with veteran filmmaker Martin Scorsese’s portrayal of the legendary actor-singer in an upcoming biopic.
The “Raging Bull” director is currently working on a movie adaption of the “Strangers in the Night” crooner’s colourful life, with Tina Sinatra on the project as an executive producer. But she is said to be unhappy with the way the script highlights the darker side of Sinatra’s career, concentrating on his alleged associations with reputed mafia ganglords during his 1960s hey-day, reports imdb.com.

Tina is now urging Scorsese, who made his name through a string of gangster movies, not to focus on her father’s shadowy past.

“Marty wants it to be hard-hitting and showcase the violent, sexually charged, hard-drinking Frank, but Tina wants to show the softer side of her dad and let the focus be on the music,” said a source.

“The Sixties were a very swinging time for Frank - he was having sex with a variety of bimbos and cementing his Rat Pack status. It’s a really key time to his mythology. Tina really wants to make sure that a sanitised Frank comes through, and that it’s not overly negative,” the source added.

Tina recently made it clear that the film which is expected to star Leonardo DiCaprio as Sinatra should refute the reports of her father’s criminal dealing, and told reporters: “I don’t want him to be driving the getaway car. That would not be fair.”

The as-yet-untitled project is slated for release in 2011.
