New York, March 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Simon Monjack, who set up a charity in the name of his deceased wife Brittany Murphy, is reportedly returning the money that was paid as donations. However, the writer/director/ producer has said that the charity was able to collect donations of mere $800 dollars.

Simon Monjack had set up the charity named “Brittany Murphy Foundation” in the honor of Brittany Murphy after her sudden death last December. The foundation was founded by Simon Monjack and Brittany Murphy’s mother. Last month, Simon Monjack planned a grand launch for the Foundation, which was canceled later. According to reports, the tickets for the launch show of the foundation were priced at $1000. News spread afterward that the Foundation is illegal and not registered under the State of California as a charitable organization. This declaration was made public at the website of the “Brittany Murphy Foundation” as well. It was declared that the foundation will return the money it has collected as donation for the charity work. The website has declared that until the foundation gets all the legal papers right it will return the donations. It declared that it will until then function as a private organization.

Simon Monjack has said to the media that the foundation has decided to return the money until it has the legal status which is required for a non profit making organization. He has also added that procedures are being carried out to register the organization under the governing body. The widower of Brittany Murphy is sure of building the foundation anew and this time “the proper steps” will be taken to get the organization registered.
