New York, Mar 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack had formed a charity in the memory of his beloved wife, who had died 3 months ago, in December 2009. But now it has come to light that the foundation is not registered as a charity, and neither as a NGO. Rather it is a private foundation without the official 501(c) 3 non-profit status, which implies that the donors cannot avail of any tax deductions on their donations.
Brittany Murphy’s husband and mother had set up the ‘Brittany Murphy Foundation’ to honor her memory. Simon had also thought about a grand launch for the organization and the tickets to the high profile launch were said to be priced at $1000 per head. But apparently these plans were canceled at the last moment and no reason was given, for the same.
However later, it was known to the public that the organization didn’t have the necessary paperwork in place, and hence was not a registered charity. This news was also confirmed by the website of the ‘Brittany Murphy Foundation’. And now Simon Monjack has said that he would refund all the contributions made so far to the ‘Brittany Murphy Foundation’.

A 501c? What would happen if we put a stop to this regulation? Would people still give tax-write off or not?
After reading about the ways in which milllions have not been spent by the Red Cross for the victims of Katrina, now many years later, I have had it.
Do people really say to themsleves or their accountant, “how much more can I donate and still get the tax write-off?”
How many good hearted Americans just give out of the goodness of their heart’s. regardless of the tax advantage?
In order to be a 501c, an organization must employ at least one full time person to handle all the necessary, “paperwork.”
I go for those groups who really save the lives of Americans, especially American children. I have research and found 5. One is Focus Adolescent Services. They do more good in saving the children of American than those with the multi-millions.
