Simon Monjack, husband of late actress Brittany Murphy, dead at 39
May 24th, 2010 - 9:08 pm ICT by BNO NewsLOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — Screenwriter Simon Monjack, the husband of the late actress Brittany Murphy, was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday evening, officials said on Monday. He was 39.
Emergency services responded to his Hollywood Hills home shortly before 9.30 p.m. local time following a 911 call. He was pronounced dead by paramedics on the scene.
A source told BNO News earlier that media reports on Monjack’s death had emerged before relatives had been notified about his passing.
An official at the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner said an autopsy would be conducted in the next ‘day or two.’ She, as well as the Los Angeles City Police Department, declined to release more information.
CNN reported that Monjack appeared to have died of natural causes and said there was no sign of foul play.
Monjack had been speaking of health problems in an interview earlier this year, saying he was taking a lot of medication. “Most of the drugs are mine. I suffer from seizures. I had a heart attack coming back from Puerto Rico last year,” he told the Daily Mirror.
Monjack married actress Brittany Murphy in May 2007 during a private Jewish ceremony in Los Angeles. Murphy passed away on December 20 at their Los Angeles home. She died of pneumonia complicated by an iron deficiency, anemia and multiple drug intoxication.
