Mar 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Simon Monjack, widower of Brittany Murphy, has began to give back the donations which he had obtained through a “charity” he had opened in the late actress’s name. This comes after he was forced to shut the foundation down, after it was discovered that he had yet to list it as a charity.

When actress Brittany Murphy married British screenwriter Simon Monjack, she had a will drafted which left everything she owned to her mother. The words “I am married to Simon Monjack who I have intentionally left out of this will.” were added to this will, Simon claims at his own insistence. He maintains that he knew he already had plenty, and that Brittany’s mom has helped her to get her career off the ground long before Simon came along, so he wanted to be sure his mother in law, Sharon was well taken care of. He did, however, open a foundation in Brittany’s name, “The Brittany Murphy Foundation.” The funds from this foundation were supposed to go towards creating and promoting art education for children.

He never listed the foundation as a charity, and now has been forced to close it down. He also has to give back all of the money which he collected for this “charity.” Simon is claiming that amount was only $800. He was supposed to host a charity event last month, to introduce the foundation, but Simon cancelled the event one day prior to it’s scheduled date. Since the tickets were $1000 each, yet he claims he only collected $800, one has to wonder, did he not sell even ONE ticket, or are the numbers a lil “off”?
