simon July 5, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Simon Cowell, the former judge of American Idol is said to have been a part of the ongoing talks between Piers Morgan and the CNN. Simon seems to have full faith in Morgan’s abilities and spoke to the channel, recommending his friend as a replacement for Larry King. Cowell has also revealed that he would be helping Morgan with his ‘America’s Got Talent’ contract.

Larry King had achieved a star like status as a talk show host. It will definitely be a difficult task to fill his shoes but Simon Cowell said in an earlier interview that he believed Morgan to be the most suitable person.

Larry King announced last night that he was retiring. He gave a statement to this effect. He will be hosting his last talk show, later on this year. Radar Online, a website reporting gossips revealed that CNN had actually begun negotiating with Piers Morgan long before King made his announcement. The discussion had been going on for several days and the channel is reported to have made an offer of $10 million to Morgan.

Morgan’s present show, ‘America’s Got Talent’ is expected to wind up in September making it the perfect time for him to take on a new responsibility.

Larry King, at 76, has been an iconic figure as CNN’s talk show host for the last 25 years. He has decided to quit the full time position in order to give time to his family. However, he is still expected to host special shows for the channel as and when required.
