Los Angeles, May 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Music mogul Simon Cowell believes that having a show like “Top of the Pops” in just one country is counter-productive. The show was produced by BBC in the United Kingdom but the network pull the plug on the regular show in 2006. Cowell said the show can have a global audience so there is no need to limit it to one country.

The 51-year-old talent hunter is set to unveil his latest show in the United States. He is still putting the show together. The show’s panel of judges is however full after the confirmation of Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole as a judge.

The confirmation followed incessant media reports for months linking her to the show. Cheryl was part of the judges of the show in the United Kingdom last year.

The President of Alternative Entertainment at FOX, Mike Darnell explained the decision to bring someone like Cheryl on board. He said that, “Cheryl Cole has the whole The X Factor package: She’s an incredibly talented artist and performer, as well as a style icon, and she has that special charisma that draws in fans around the world.”

The show’s other judges are Cowell and L.A. Reid.
