Simon Cowell: ‘Mariah Carey would be on X-factor USA’
April 18th, 2011 - 10:52 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, April 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Simon Cowell has revealed that Mariah Carey would play a role on the new FOX show X Factor USA. He however denied that the role would be judge.
During a radio interview, the former American Idol judge said due to the fact that Carey is currently pregnant, she wouldn’t be offered a judge role but he said the singer would play another role on the show. He revealed that he had met Carey recently saying Carey appeared to be in “great shape.”
That leaves only one judge confirmed for the show. Since the show was announced for the United States, several names have been linked with it but the executives have only confirmed the name of LA Reid. Reid is the former chairman of Island Def Jam Records.
Other names like that of Girls Aloud singer, Cheryl Cole, former American Idol judge Paula Abdul and Jessica Simpson have all been linked with the show.
X Factor for the past years have been very successful in the United Kingdom. The success of the show is what the owners want to replicate in the United States when it kicks off later this year.
