Los Angeles, Apr 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress Sigourney Weaver has blasted the voters of the Academy Awards. She said that they were trying to be ‘fashionable’ when they awarded Kathryn Bigelow the award for the Best Director. She was hoping that her movie Avatar would win the Best Director award, but instead the winner was the movie ‘The Hurt Locker’.

She said that if Avatar was made in the past then it would definitely have won the award, but these days it is fashionable to award small movies, which have a very niche audience. She said that, “Jim didn’t have breasts, and I think that was the reason. He should have taken home that Oscar. In the past, ‘Avatar’ would have won because the Oscar voters loved to hand out awards to big productions like ‘Ben Hur’. Today it’s fashionable to give the Oscar to a small movie that nobody saw.”

The biggest grossing movie of all times - Avatar might have a re-release in the summers too. Speculations are rife that the movie might have minted some more dough, if it hadn’t have to vacant the digital and the IMAX screens in March, for the 3D version of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. So the producers are planning another release in the summers, to make up for the losses, and notch some more box-office records in the process.
