Feb 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With Shutter Island, ace director Martin Scorsese makes his fourth collaboration with popular Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Before this movie, the star acted in the director’s The Departed, The Aviator and Gangs of New York, all of which earned lots of critical acclaim. In fact, any film directed by Martin Scorsese is likely to get the attention of the film critics and Shutter Island is no exception. The movie set in a backdrop of 1954, has been adapted from a novel by Dennis Lehane. Legendary Hollywood actor Sir Ben Kingsley also plays a crucial role in the movie.

The early reviews of the movie are quite encouraging and the majority of the critics have agreed that Martin Scorsese have brought the novel alive with his imagination and creative touches. Leonardo DiCaprio, who has emerged from his lover boy image depicted in Titanic several years back, has given a raw and intense performance in this movie. He plays the role of a frustrated detective with perfection. This film as well as the actor, have high chances of winning the nominations of prestigious awards in the coming days.

The actor gave an interview recently and talked about his collaboration with the director. However, the ending part of the film may not go down well with some of the viewers. The cinematography of the film, as is with all Martin Scorsese flicks, is awesome and the editing is taut. Sir Ben Kingsley plays the baddie with aplomb. It could be shocking for some, but the lovers of horror and thrillers will throng the theaters for watching it.
