Shutter IslandJan 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Directed by Martin Scorsese, Shutter island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio is all set to release in February. Based on Dennis Lehane’s novel of the same name the movie attracted a lot of negative media coverage due to issues related to the film rights. The news of the movie’s release being on 2009 October were doing rounds but later the schedule was shifted to February 19, 2010. This rescheduling is rumored to have taken place because the makers did not have enough dough for the huge promotion, the movie called for.

The plot of the movie revolves around two United States marshals that are involved in the investigation of a patient that disappears from a hospital. The hospital, located in Massachusetts is shown to inhabit insane people. The duly-appointed marshals come across trouble when they encounter the chief administrator of the hospital who starts deceiving them. In a twist of the tale, mother nature takes control and a hurricane leave them trapped on the shutter island. To top the cream, along with the missing patient and hurricane, an inmate breaks out too. Mark Ruffalo and Leonardo DiCaprio play the two US marshals and are supported by other actors like Ben Kingsley (hospital’s chief physician), Michelle Williams (Dolores Chanal), Emily Mortimer (Rachel Solando), Max von Sydow (Dr. Jeremiah Naering), Jackie Earle Haley (George Noyce), Ted Levine (the Warden), Elias Koteas (Andrew Laeddis), Patricia Clarkston (Ethel Barton) and John Carroll Lynch (McPherson).

The expectation from this movie is quite high given the fact that Martin Scorsese’s direction is critically acclaimed and widely appreciated having made movies like “The Departed”. Even if you aren’t a Leonardo DiCaprio fan, the plot is enough reason to watch the movie.
