Leonardo DiCaprio’s upcoming thriller, Shutter Island, which was supposed to release this October, has been delayed. The film will now hit theatres in February 2010. The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, will have DiCaprio playing an escaped prisoner.
According to Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Brad Grey, they are confident that Shutter Island will work, but they have decided to postpone it to 2010 to start off the year well. Scorsese is a wonderful filmmaker as well as a personal friend of his and DiCaprio is one of the most talented actors at present. The decision to shift the film release to February will work in favor of the film as well as the studio.
Paramount Pictures has had a spate of hits this year with their Star Trek, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
