Shutter IslandThe Leonardo Di Caprio-Sir Ben Kinsley starer thriller ‘Shutter Island’ was released a few months back and like all Martin Scorsese movies it got lots of critical acclaim.

The movie has been released in Blu Ray format recently by Paramount Home Entertainment and it is available for $39.98. The director has roped in ace cinematographer Robert Richardson who has worked in movies like ‘Kill Bill’ and the director’s own ‘Aviator’ earlier.

He has done justice to this movie as well and the results are best enjoyed on Blu ray. The cinematography of the movie is rich with colors and textures that contain various atmospheres. The scenes look nothing short of breathtaking on 1080p AVC of Paramount.

The DTS HD Master Audio track matches the excellence of the visuals in the Blu Ray edition of the movie. The audio quality, in short is excellent and the conversations among the protagonist and other characters are very crisp. The background music including the storm that lashes the island is powerful enough. The audio track also offers subtitles in many languages apart from English.

However, the Blu ray edition of ‘Shutter Island’ does not offer extra goodies for the viewers. You can get two clips named Into The lighthouse and Behind the shutters, both shot in HD format. There is a discussion with the author of the novel on which the film is based. There is no theatrical trailer of the film or any deleted shot that did not make it to theaters.

However, the audio visual quality offered by the Blu-ray version makes up for these minor glitches.
