Shooter Jennings on Jamey JohnsonMarch 24th, 2009 - 9:09 pm ICT by GD
The word that is out is Shooter Jennings cannot find the right words to describe his music for his due to be released album. Jennings cannot find the right words to describe his music, we wonder how was he able to compose it. But the fact is, the music is due to be released and being able to describe it or not does not matter so much, we just hope that Jennings’s fans will be able to describe the music for him after the release.
However if you ask him about his appearance with Jamey Johnson on the CMT Crossroads, then he describes it in the most fascinating lyrical fashion.
Jennings reflects on the taping of the show saying, “”It was such a great feeling,” he adds “we both got so much juice out of it because we were both on stage next to each other and playing our own songs. We took it in a direction that was not the expected ‘Outlaw country.’ We could have phoned that in. We didn’t do that. … it was as real as it gets when it comes to pairing two [artists] together.”
When asked about his thoughts about Jamey and his music, he said, “If there’s ever been anybody in country music, in the modern sense, that I can consider my peer and my friend, it was always and will be Jamey.” He further added that Johnson and him had become close friends now not just on the strength of their music, “we’ve both been in moments of darkness and helped each other through them,” he said.
