Los Angeles, Oct 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Warner Bros has hired the writer of Iron Man 3, Drew Pearce, to pen the next installment of the movie Sherlock Holmes. With Sherlock Holmes 2 set to hit the theaters on the 16th of December, the studio has already started working on the next movie.

Sherlock Holmes was a surprise when it was released in 2009. The success of the movie necessitated the making of another movie. The trailer of “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” which is the second installment, has been released. The movie features Robert Downey Jr. and it is believed he was influential in getting Pearce on board.

Downey and Pearce worked together on the set of Iron Man 3. It was initially reported that Shane Black was going to write the script for Iron Man 3 but Pearce ended up doing it.

Deadline.com first reported that Pearce will be the writer of Sherlock Holmes 3. If the report turns out to be true, Pearce will be the third writer for the franchise. Different writers have penned each installment of the franchise so far.

The fact that Warner Bros is planning a third installment when the second installment has not even been released expresses the level of confidence that the studio has in the franchise.
