Mumbai, Aug 19 (ANI): Bollywood actor Sharmila
Tagore walked the ramp wearing scintillating jewellery pieces at the International Jewellery Week (IIJW) here on Wednesday.

Modern art jewellery pieces designed by Radhika Singh and Sayanta Sarkar
displayed.

The overall collection blended intricately carved necklaces, armlets, and
chains of uncut diamonds on corded strands and chunky gold bracelets.

Sharmila Tagore said the jewellery collection had a touch of her native
place, Kolkata.

“Wonderful designers and when I was asked to come and be the show stopper
here, I accepted because there are couple of reasons behind this. As you know
my daughter Sabah Ali Khan is also a jewellery designer and she is also
participating,” said Tagore.

“Suyanta is the seventh generation jeweller from his family and his family
happens to be from Kolkata, so that is a huge connection and you must have
gathered that from sindoor and the music and everything which had that Kolkata
touch and of course the jewellery was fantastic,” said Tagore.

The extravaganza showcases the collections of 30 designers, including Farah
Khan Ali, Varun D. Jani, Bina Goenka and Rhea Nasta. Well-known jewellery
brands like Mirari, Gitanjali, Amrapali, Tanishq and Ganjam are also
participating.

Buyers from Japan, Russia, Britain, China, Italy, Malaysia, Libya, Morocco,
Iran, the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are taking
part.

India’s first-ever Jewellery Week will end on Thursday. (ANI)
