Actor Shakeel Khan, who has played interesting characters in prominent films like “Lakshya’, “Page 3′, “Bunty Aur Babli’, “Goal’, “Ahista Ahista’ and “Don’, will now be seen in a key role in the internationally acclaimed Hinglish film “Frozen’. Directed by Shivajee Chandrabhushan, the film will release in India in single screen theatres this week (May 8).
Shakeel is extremely excited and nervous at the same time. “I play a character of a happy-go-lucky romantic called Romeo and am co-starring with Danny sir (Denzongpa), Raj Zutshi and Aamir Bashir. I’ve really worked hard on this one and hope people love it,” says Khan.
In the year since its completion, “Frozen’ has already won a lot of awards and acclaim all over the world, including the British Independent Film Awards, European Film Awards, Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards, Dubai International Film Festival, Los Angeles LGBT People of Color Film Festival, Artivist Film Festival and Stockholm Film Festival.
Shot in stark black and white, which perfectly captures the cold, unrelenting hostility of the Himalayas (it is set in Ladakh); the film revolves around a small family living an almost hand-to-mouth existence up in the mountains. Their lives are changed when the army sets up camp next door. -Sampurn Media
