Shabana is Action Aid India chairperson
October 4th, 2011 - 3:17 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS) Actress Shabana Azmi has been appointed chairperson of Action Aid India (AAI) - an NGO working for the poor and marginalised people.
On Twitter, Azmi posted that it was an honor to be on Action Aid board,
“amongst people who have been involved with people’s movements”.
The actor-cum-activist runs an NGO, Mijwan, founded by her father and renowned poet, the late Kaifi Azmi in Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Mijwan provides regular work opportunities to skilled rural women.
