Johnny Depp London, June 25 (ANI): A Sgt Pepper souvenir poster signed by The Beatles has fetched a staggering 52,500 dollars in a pop memorabilia auction at Christie’s in New York.

Among 300 musical items that went under the hammer were a bass guitar owned by late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain that drew 43,750 dollars and Bob Dylan’s handwritten lyrics of ‘God On Our Side’, which snapped up 25,000 dollars, The BBC reports.

In the screen memorabilia section, Johnny Depp’s pivotal prop from the film Edward Scissorhands raised 16,250 dollars, while actor Bob Crane’s Leather Jacket from the 1960s US television series Hogan’s Heroes fetched 40,000 dollars.

Simeon Lipman, the auction house’s head of popular culture, suggested that the reason behind the items procuring high prices was their nostalgic significance.

He said: “Even in an unstable economy, you’ll see peaks for certain prices.”(ANI)
