set1May 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A few days back the much awaited premiere of ‘Sex and The City 2′ was held in New York. The first film in the series was commercially successful and also got good reviews from the critics. The success of the first film was owing to its tight-knit plot and right mix of melodrama. The sequel on the contrary has got a lukewarm review from the critics. Those who had seen the first movie is of the opinion that ‘Sex and The City 2′ fails to match up to the fun and thrill of its predecessor. Besides, the sequel will have to battle it out with the recently released ‘Prince of Persia’ at the box office. However, the fans of the series are likely to run to the theaters and that will ensure that the movie does decent business.

The movie is going to be released in 30 countries all over the world. As one can understand, it will not be released in Abu Dhabi and the director was denied permission to shot there. He had to shoot some scenes of the movie in Morocco using sets as a result. The first film depicting the lives and adventures of a group of sexually liberated women grossed $415 million globally two years back.

If the online tickets sales and advance bookings are any indication then the sequel will be as successful as the earlier one, some movie review sites are claiming. The viewers who would flock to the theaters to see this movie would be mostly women. The TV series also received tremendous success when it was aired.
