bridesDec.20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) There are some movies that never lose their charm or appear dated. People enjoy watching these flicks irrespective of how many times they are shown in TV channels. One such all time classic is the movie “Seven Brides For Seven Brothers”. recently the film was shown on MoMA. It is one of the outstanding musical films made in the 1950s. The occasion marked Johnny Mercer’s centennial. His seven songs in the film are loved by the music lovers.

The music of Seven Brides For Seven Brothers was composed by Saul Chaplin and Gene de Paul and the film’s director was Stanley Donen. The lyrics of the songs are remembered till date. This movie is also remembered for its offbeat choreography which was done by Michael Kidd. He conceptualized dancing moves from activities like chopping wood and barn raising. The most memorable songs from the film are “Bless Your Beautiful Hide”, “House-Raising Dance” and “Wonderful, Wonderful Day”. In fact, the music played a considerable role behind the enduring appeal of the film.

The plot of the film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers begins with the senior most sibling getting married to a lady named Milly and bringing her to the house. The new bride teaches the junior brothers of her husband how to court a lady. This helps them to find a bride for themselves. The ending of the movie is quite enjoyable and the viewers love watching it over and again. Even after the considerable lapse in time, the endearing movie has not quite lost its appeal for all.
