New York, Sept 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) 13-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams risks fines from the U.S. Tennis Association and the International Tennis Federation following her behavior on the court during the US Open finals. The 3-time US Open champion shouted at the umpire for giving her opponent some close calls.

Williams is ranked No. 28 and was playing her first tournament after staying out of the game for several months because of toe injury. Before the final game against Australia’s ninth-rank Sam Stosur, Williams had not lost a set. The game between the two ended 6-2, 6-3 and it served as a shock to the numerous fans who were rooting for the American tennis star.

An early sign of problem was when Williams found herself a set down. She was also down in the second game facing a break point. At a shot, Williams figured she has had it and shouted “C’mon!’” However Stosur returned the ball and the umpire, Eva Asderaki, awarded the point to her citing hindrance on the part of Williams.

Williams went to the umpire and said, “I’m not giving her that game…I promise you, that’s not cool. That’s totally not cool.”

After another call, Williams went back to Asderaki again and told her, “You’re out of control…You’re a hater, and you’re just unattractive inside.” Moments later, she added that, “Really, don’t even look at me.”

After the game, Williams said she will have to watch the footage again to know what happened because things were really “tensed” on the court. This is the first Grand Slam title for the Australian. She is the first Australian woman to win a major championship in more than 30 years.
