July 18, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): 49-year-old Melissa Etheridge happens to be an American, who is a respected and renowned rock singer-songwriter and musician. She has been awarded by several institutions in the past due to her incontrovertible competence. Etheridge has been the recipient of an excellent fifteen Grammy Award nominations. She has been the winner of two out of them. She has also attained an Academy Award. Etheridge has also been a source of motivation for homosexuals and lesbians since she confessed publicly in 1993 that she was a lesbian. She has campaigned energetically in order to advocate the necessity of homosexual rights.

Melissa Etheridge had recently launched a court case to legally disband her domestic partnership with her former girlfriend, Tammy Lynn Michaels. Melissa had enunciated about her separation from Tammy in April and had asserted to Oprah Winfrey that the breakage was an unfortunate but mutual affair. Etheridge has quoted incompatible divergences for the split in the judicial papers. She has requested joint guardianship of their 3-year-old kids.

The two had organized a commitment ceremony in 2003 and had cataloged a domestic partnership in August 2005. Michaels procreated twins from an unidentified sperm contributor in 2006.

On Friday, after an extensive hiatus, Etheridge emerged in public in Manhattan. Earlier this week, a judge of the L.A. County Superior Court decreed that Melissa did not have to shell out to her ex-lover, Tammy, an extra $25K. The judge mentioned that Etheridge was already forking out cash for all of Tammy’s and their kids’ bills. Neal Hersh happens to be the attorney of Etheridge. Hersh has mentioned that Etheridge is wholly supporting Tammy financially. The kids occupy an important position in the list of priorities of Etheridge.

Nonetheless, the attorney of 35-year-old Tammy has asserted that she has been left on the breadline since Melissa launched a court case to terminate their domestic partnership. Tammy has declared that she was blindsided by the separation and that Etheridge had left her and the kids with a meager $4 to their name. Steven Knowles, the attorney of Tammy, has accepted that Melissa has been forking out miscellaneous expenditure. However, still, Tammy and the kids were quite impoverished.
