Sean Penn charged with battery and vandalism

Los Angeles, Feb 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor Sean Penn assaulted a photographer and he has been charged with battery and vandalism. According to Los Angeles city attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan, actor Sean Penn, would be arraigned on the 22nd of March on the two misdemeanor charges. And in case he is convicted, then he could be behind bars for 18 months. Frank Mateljan said that Sean Penn kicked a photographer in the leg. This incident happened at a shopping centre in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles in October 2009. It is also said that he also damaged photograph’s camera.
This assault incident was recorded on a video posted by celebrity Web site TMZ.com It is clearly seen in the video, that the 49-year-old Sean Penn is kicking at a photographer in Brentwood, California and repeatedly telling the photographer to “get out”. Sean Penn’s attorney, Barry Hirsch, made no immediate comment on the incident. However it is learnt that the actor doesn’t need to be present in the court, if an attorney represents him in the court.
Sean Penn was subsequently charged with these two misdemeanor counts on Friday. This is not the first time, that Sean Penn is entangled with the police. In 1987 he was sentenced to 2 months in jail, for punching a movie extra on the set of the police drama “Colors”.
