Sean Penn charged with assault, vandalism

London, Feb 20 (IANS) Hollywood actor Sean Penn has been charged with criminal battery and vandalism following a violent fight with a paparazzo.
Penn was captured on video attacking the unnamed photographer, who was following him in Brentwood, California in October last year. During the scuffle, the snapper’s camera was damaged.
Penn was officially charged with the two misdemeanour counts Friday. He faces 18 months behind bars if convicted, reported hollywood.com.
The actor will be arraigned in Los Angeles County Superior Court March 22.
It’s not the first time Penn has been reprimanded for his violent outbursts. The 49-year-old Oscar winner was sentenced to 60 days in jail for punching a movie extra on the set of the police drama “Colors” in 1987.
