Los Angeles, Oct. 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The star studded event of the Scream Awards 2009 was held on Saturday, Oct. 17, which saw a congregation of Hollywood’s big names flocking to the venue of the Greek Theatre, in order to attend the event.
The Spike TV awards chose to portray just how different it is from the other award ceremonies by dangling spaceship [that almost resembled those shown in "Battlestar Gallactica"] as well as a massive snow globe on the stage. Providing them company were large cutouts of Stan Lee [who is known as a comic book legend] and other such popular icons related to the Sci-Fi genre. With that, it was time to celebrate everything Sci-Fi, horror or fantasy.
The list of celebs who were present at the event ranged from newbies to veterans, like Johnny Depp, Megan Fox, Taylor Lautner, Julie Benz, Quentin Tarantino, Tobey Maguire, Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth, Harrison Ford, Justin Long, Morgan Freeman, Christina Ricci among others.
The crowd had rose as one when actor Johnny Depp had come up on stage to present the Rock Immortal award to the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Richards is supposed to have said in an interview just prior to the awards, “I liked the living legend, that was all right, but immortal is even better.”
“Transformers” star Megan Fox took home the award for the Best Sci-Fi Actress. Taylor Lautner collected the award for the break through performance for “Twilight”. Besides that, “New Moons”’s world premiere video clip was also shown during the awards night. “Twilight” picked up awards for the lead pair of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart too.

Wow! I see there’s no reason for me to watch this year. They clearly gave awards away to every film that sucked with the exception of Star Trek. No thanks Scream Awards…I think I’ll pass.
