Los Angeles, Aug 28 (IANS) Family members of late filmmaker Tony Scott have set up a Tony Scott Scholarship Fund in his name.

The “Top Gun” director, who committed suicide Aug 19 by jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge here, was remembered by friends and relatives during a private funeral service Friday.

In lieu of sending flowers to celebrate his life, the 68-year-old’s family has asked that donations be made to the Tony Scott Scholarship Fund, which was established at the American Film Institute to help carry on his legacy, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

“The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the fund to help encourage and engage future generations of filmmakers,” read a statement issued.

Scott’s official cause of death remains unknown. An official toxicology report is expected to reveal that in the coming weeks.
