Los Angeles, May 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) CBS has decided to replace Katie Couric with Scott Pelley as the network’s evening news anchor. Pelley was brought to the “60 Minutes” show in 2004 and his successes have been rewarded with 14 Emmy Awards.

CBS has not announced when they intend to effect the replacement. Katie’s current contract with CBS expires on the 4th of June and it has been widely reported that she might get a new show with ABC. CBS News is struggling with ratings for about a decade now. Katie took the anchor seat from Bob Schieffer. Katie has been the anchor for the past five years.

CBS is hoping to revive the show’s ratings. The News chairman of the network said that it was important for the network to consider hiring someone within the network to help in the resurgent of the program.

Jeff Fager described Pelley as one of the best reporters to have worked with the network. Fager has other changes for the show. He announced that he will come up with a replacement for the current executive producer of “CBS Evening News.” Rick Kaplan is the executive producer of the show.

Pelley plans to bring his experience on “60 Minutes” to CBS News.
