October 30, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Scot Foley, the star of ‘Felicity’, will now be seen within the confines of a hospital. He is not really ill or hasn’t even been involved in an accident though. Foley is seemingly going to appear as a guest actor in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. The role is destined to be a major and recurring one, confirmed ABC while speaking to USMagazine.com.

His character will supposedly fall for Dr. Teddy Altman played by Kim Raver. Foley seems to have a penchant for starring in ABC shows as a guest artist. He was last seen doing a guest spot in ABC’s ‘Cougar Town’.

However, playing doctor is not likely to be a difficult task for him either. He had had the experience of posing as a doctor when he appeared in NBC’s ‘Scrubs’.

The executive producer for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, Shonda Rhimes has in the meanwhile quashed all rumors that likens Foley to Morgan’s Denny Duquette. The character is totally different from that of Denny, she reiterates. But the situation when one of the doctors has an emotional effect on the patient is somewhat similar.

The writers of the show are also having a difficult time trying to wrap off the Alex/Izzie part. The best bet is to let Izzie die off, explains Rhimes. However, she decided against it ultimately. Although she knows that she is being overly sentimental about the issue she felt much too cruel and mean.

Her only bet right now is to get Katherine Heigl to appear for another episode of the show failing which that particular storyline will just have to be foregone altogether.
