Scandal halts World Film Festival

Assistant group editor of the Nation Group Nithinand Yorsaengrat, made public that the Nation Group had no involvement with the operations of the US-based Film Festival Management Co., which had participated in the World Film Festival of Bangkok.

The Nation Group has officiated over the October filmfest every year since 2003.

US authorities have taken the owners of the Film Festival Management Co. into custody, on allegations of bribing a senior Tourism Authority of Thailand official. The payoff was meant to secure a management contract for the World Film Festival of Bangkok.
