Sathyam Cinema gets Gen Next multiplex
September 1st, 2009 - 6:28 pm ICT by IBNS ( Leave a comment )Chennai/Kolkata, Sept 1 (IBNS) Sathyam Cinemas has opened a new multiplex at Chennai’s largest destination mall – Express Avenue, keeping in mind the movie-watching culture of Generation Next.
Sathyam Cinemas and Express Infrastructure (promoter of Express Avenue) announced the partnership at a press conference on Tuesday.
Built over 10 acres in the heart of Chennai, Express Avenue is the first mall in Chennai to combine a shopping centre, office space, boutique hotel and multiplex in the same development.
Kim Culley, Chief Operations Officer, Express Avenue said, “Express Avenue will be the pride of Chennai and will house an array of luxury and premium brands. Sathyam Cinemas is a great brand that fits perfectly in our scheme and we are delighted to have the award winning Sathyam Cinemas at Express Avenue. This would complete the ultimate destination mall experience we are visualizing at Express Avenue.”
The multiplex will be operated by Sathyam Cinemas, the leading cinema name in Chennai. Five to six storey tower blocks for the hotel and commercial offices, will anchor either end of the development with the retail component occupying four floors, totaling almost 1 million square feet of retail space, located in the center.
R.R. Aroon Kumar, Chief Financial Officer, Express Avenue said, “Located in the heart of Chennai, this Grade-A Building will incorporate green building and energy efficient measures to provide an “Eco” friendly asset for Chennai city. Express Avenue is designed to provide a complete mall experience and will be a great destination not just for Chennai’ites but also for thousands of visitors to the city every week.”
