Sarah McLachlan mocked in South Park
May 27th, 2011 - 10:26 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, May 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The controversial show “South Park” added Sarah McLachlan to its list of victims when the singer was mocked in a recent episode. In the episode, Sarah is portrayed as a nurse who is on duty caring for “babies on crack.” Sarah allowed her song to be used in the episode but the voice for her character did not belong to her.
When the pictures of the babies flashed on the screen, Kyle screamed, “Oh no it’s that super-sad Sarah McLachlan commercial, look away.” When Sarah’s character appeared in the screen, she was cradling a child as she addressed the others. She said that, “Hello I’m Sarah McLachlan. I was famous for two months.”
“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have received death threats in the past for their show. Last year, Matt and Parker were forced to apologize after they satirized Prophet Mohammed. Earlier this year, a theatrical show by the two also mocked some practices of Jesus of the Latter Day Saints though that did not offend the church.
43-year-old Sarah is currently involved in a campaign against animal cruelty. The Canadian ballad singer has appeared in several commercials as part of her role in the campaign.
