Santharam award to Prakash Raj

- Actor Prakash Raj won the Santharam award for best actor for his role as a silk weaver in the National award winning film, Kanchivaram. The best director award went to Priyadarshan for Kanchivaram too.
Rani Mukherjee won the best actress award for Dil Bole Hadippa. The best debutante director award went to Nanditha Das for her film, Firaq. Anushka Sharma won the best newcomer award for her film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Priyadarshan spoke about his joy at receiving his first best director award in his 27-year long career.
