Samuel L. Jackson to produce ‘Afro Samurai’

Los Angeles, July 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The animation Afro Samurai is making its way to the live giant screen. It has been announced that the movie will be collaboration between Samuel L. Jackson’s Gonzo Studios and The Indomina Group.

Jackson is not new to the project. He lends his voice to the lead character of the animation. The animation which has already won several titles is based on the work by Takeshi Okazaki in the 1990s. The first animation of the series was aired in the 2000s.

It has been announced that the executives are currently searching for the director and script writer for the movie. The cast is also being put together and the studios hope that they will be able to complete the cast list and start shooting in 2012. The live movie will be shot at Pinewood Indomina Studios in the Dominican Republic.

Afro Samurai is set in the future and it is about a Japanese boy who is out to revenge the attack on his father. His target was a man dressed as a cowboy and named Justice. The animation is made in the hip-hop settings.

A TV movie special of the animation won an Emmy in 2009.
