Samuel L Jackson asked for purple lightsaber during Star Wars filming
March 8th, 2011 - 6:25 pm ICT by ANIWellington, Mar 8 (ANI): Actor Samuel L Jackson has revealed that during the filming of ‘Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith’ he made only one request of director George Lucas - to be given a purple lightsaber.
Jackson, 62, had played Mace Windu in the 2005 movie, and while the legendary fictional weapons are traditionally green or red, he asked Lucas, 66, for a different colour so his Jedi Master character would stand out.
“I never asked for anything except a purple lightsaber. George said, ‘Well, lightsabers are either red or green.’ I said, ‘Yeah, but I would like a purple one’,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Jackson as telling Esquire magazine.
Jackson also revealed that he has always felt passionate about movies, even from a young age, and used to go to the cinema every week when he was growing up and films became an important part of his life.
He believes watching such a variety of genres when he was a child has made him appreciate all kinds of movies, so he has been more open when it comes to playing characters. (ANI)
