Sam Raimi To Direct Wizard Of Oz Prequel

Sam RaimiThe latest buzz doing the rounds in Hollywood is that Sam Raimi the noted director has been roped in for making a prequel to the famous 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz”. The prequel reportedly will be made in 3D and it will be named as “Oz, The Great And Powerful”. The former Spider Man director has teamed up with Disney for making this film. Reports also suggest the actor Robert Downey Jr will be roped in for the cast though the actor has not sad anything officially. The director was said to be involved with the project earlier this year too. He said in a recent interview that talks with the producers of the upcoming movie are still on the primary level. He is yet to sign any agreement for this movie as he revealed in the interview. The director said that he liked the script and is sure if it is filmed the viewers will lap it up for sure.

The production work of the 3D prequel to Oz is likely to start next year. The script is being re composed now by David Lindsay-Abaire, the same person who bagged a Pulitzer Prize for Rabbit Hole. Reportedly actor Robert Downey Jr was initially not much interested in the project. However, when he heard that Sam Raimi would direct it he became interested.

Sam Raimi is known for many blockbuster including the Spider man series, Evil Dead series and also Drag Me To Hell. Disney is interested after seeing the success of the Alice In wonderland 3D which had Johnny Depp in the cast.
