New York, Feb 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Salman Rushdie’s ex Padma Lakshmi gave birth to a daughter on the 20th of February. Model and author Padma Lakshmi gave birth in a New York hospital to her daughter, and has named her Krishna. It is still not known who is the father of the baby, even though the media has been playing a guessing game for over 6 months now.

Padma is very happy with her newfound motherhood, as she has wanted to be a mother since ages, but she couldn’t conceive due to endometriosis, which is said to be a medical condition that can make a person infertile. After a lot of struggle when finally Padma became pregnant, then she was over the moon. She loved every aspect of the whole pregnancy period. Last fall she said that, “I actually can’t button my jeans anymore. Up until about a week ago, I could. There’s just too much pressure, so I’ve had to put them away for now.”

In January, Padma Lakshmi had confessed that she had thought long and hard about her child’s name, and she wanted to name her child with a classical Sanskrit Indian name. She has indeed kept her promise, as she has named her daughter Krishna.
