Feb 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sal Picinich, who will always be remembered as the greatest baker in the United States, after the popularity of the TLC reality show, “Cake Boss”, left his last breathe on Sunday, at the age of 63. According to the reports, the main reason behind his demise was cancer.
Buddy Valastro, who was the host of the show looked upon the great baker as his father figure, said Adam Bourcier, who was the publicist of Sal Picinich. The veteran baker on the other hand, was trained by Buddy Valastro’s late father. His wife Lucille Picinich said that his husband was a man of less words and more work. She also added that he loved working in the bakeries and the moment he said that he refused to visit the Carlo’s Bakery for work, she would know that something was wrong with his health. On a general day, he would not prefer to stay away from his duties, and so intense was his dedication. Lucille Picinich also added that Sal Picinich was so popular and well known that whenever they would visit their Applegate Farms in Montclair, people would spot him, to conduct and interaction.
Sal Picinich received the Employee of the Century Award on the 100th anniversary of the Carlo’s bakery. Although he had quit his job for the time being, he decided to resume his passion, as he was charged up with the award. Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt, will conduct his visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m to 8 p.m, while his funeral would take place at the St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in East Rutherford on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
