SAG Awards Aired Live On TNT

natJan 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place yesterday, that was aired LIVE on TNT, at 8:00 p.m ET and 5:00 P.m PT. The nominations of the awards were declared long back on December 16. The award ceremony dedicated 14 awards for fourteen different categories in film and television together.

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture went to the film “The King’s Speech”. It was a great achievement for the film, as in most of the preceding awards, this category was commended either by “The Social Network” or by “Inception”. Although the film was critically acclaimed, it was never rewarded with this award before. However, for Colin Firth, it was the second time that he bagged the best actor award this year, for the same film. Similarly, the best female actor in the leading role, was bagged by none other then Natalie Portman, who seems to have got a permanent fixture for this category this year for his highly acclaimed film, “Black Swan”. The best male supporting actor and supporting actress went to Christian Bale and Melissa Leo, for “The Fighter”.

17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards also gave a special tribute to the actors and actresses of the television industry. “Boardwalk Empire” was rewarded for its Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series category, while for the comedy series, the award went to “Modern Family”. “Boardwalk Empire” also gave the best actor award to Steve Buscemi, while Julianna Margulies got it for “The Good Wife”. Alec Baldwin got the award for being an outstanding male performer in a comedy role for “30 rocks”, and Betty White was his female counterpart for “Hot in Cleveland”.
