Sacha Baron Cohen dressed as The Dictator Los Angeles, Feb 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Barring any last minute compromise, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen may not be allowed on the red carpet during the Oscars. Industry reports suggest that the actor who plans to come to the event dressed as the main character of his latest movie The Dictator has had his ticket recalled.

Famous for playing the role of Borat in his most notable movie ever, Cohen’s latest movie may generate some controversy when it is released later this year. Cohen plays the role of an Arab dictator in the movie with some likening his character to that of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

With rumors that Cohen was planning to walk on the red carpet with his full costume from the set of The Dictator, the Academy organizers seem to be taking no chances and have informed Cohen’s camp that he should come in like every else or risk being barred from the event.

A spokesperson of the award organizers told Deadline.com that, “We would hope that every studio knows that this is a bad idea. The Red Carpet is not about stunting.”

In the past, Cohen attended two MTV events dressed as his screen characters. The 40-year-old was dressed as Borat when he attended the MTV Europe Music Awards and in 2009, he attended the MTV Movie Awards dressed as Bruno.
