Ryan Seacrest Says J-Lo Will Be ‘Idol’s’ New “Mean Judge”

Jan 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) America watched as Simon Cowell left ‘American Idol’ in a sendoff which was enhanced by a strange farewell from Paula Abdul… and with him, or so we thought, the end of the “mean judge” on Idol. Not so, says Ryan Seacrest, host of the popular American television show. The seemingly cold and cruel critiques will continue on the show, according to Seacrest, in the form of Jennifer Lopez.

In an interview with ‘Access Hollywood’ at the ‘E!TCA’ party held on Tuesday, Ryan stated, “Jennifer [is the mean one]. She expects a lot… she’s tough, but she gives tough love.” He went on to say that although J-Lo will be taking the spot as the mean judge, it will be Stephen Tyler, lead singer of the band ‘Aerosmith’, who will be the sensitive, teary-eyed one. “Steven is probably our most emotional judge. We will probably see tears from Steven as well as laughs and he’s a prankster too, but they got along very well on the road,” Seacrest explained.

Ryan Seacrest is not only the host of ‘American Idol’ but has several pots on the stove, so to speak, including ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’, and ‘Denise Richards: It’s Complicated.” His hopes are to one day launch his own network, much like the one that Oprah Winfrey just began known as ‘Oprah Winfrey Network’ (OWN). He shared his thoughts, “The idea is to try and come up with as many different shows as possible so that there would be an opportunity to have a network … that would be wonderful.”
