Ryan Phillippe Replaces John Krasinski For “Captain America”

281x211New York, Mar 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This is tougher than we thought. The casting drama for Marvel Comics “The First Avenger: Captain America” still continues. After we came to know recently how the makers are settling upon Hugo Weaving to play the baddie, Red Skull in the movie, it’s now time for the title role for which many a Hollywood actors has been lining up. It was being said that “The Office” star, John Krasinski would be slipping into the iconic red, blue and white dress of Captain America. Well, now as it appears Ryan Phillippe would be filling in for the lead role.

Ryan Phillippe is the ex- husband to Reese Witherspoon and has acted in movies like “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, “54″ and “Cruel Intentions,” where he had appeared alongside Reese Witherspoon. Ryan Phillippe also formed the credit list for the 2005 Academy Award-winning movie “Crash” and the highly appreciated war saga ‘Flags of Our Fathers’ directed by actor-director Clint Eastwood. Ryan Phillippe was cast in the role of real life FBI agent Eric O’Neill in the 2007 flick “Breach”. Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon had first met upon Reese Witherspoon’s 21st birthday party and the two were romantically engaged and finally tied the knot on June 5, 1999. They have one daughter and a son from their marriage.

“Captain America” happens to be a Joe Johnston movie, who has earlier directed Hugo Weaving in the recent “The Wolfman”. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely is the brains behind the screenplay. The duo has previously penned down the screenplay for the fantasy drama “The Chronicles of Narnia”.
