Los Angeles, April 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Deadline has reported that Russell Crowe is close to his first director position. The report says the actor might find himself in the director’s seat for the film “77.”

The movie is based on real life events and it will concentrate on the lives of two police officers. The 1974 Symbionese Liberation Army shootout with the LAPD is known in American history as one of the heaviest firefight between the police and criminals. When the battle ended, about 50,000 bullets were exchanged between the two sides. Five of the gang members were killed in the shootout.

The movie will link the shooting with another event that happened in 1974 as well. The killing of an LA officer which was not solved at the time captured the attention of the American public. The new movie will link that to the shootout that took place.

The reports say Crowe might not restrict his role to that of only director. He may also play a role in the movie, the report says. If the movie is successful, it will be the first time that Crowe has successfully directed a movie. For some time now Crowe has indicated his intention to sit in the director’s seat.
