London, Jan 6 (ANI): Russell Brand has revealed that he is engaged to singer Katy Perry.

The comic, 34, said that he popped the question during a spiritual ceremony in India on New Year’s Eve and a “love guru” blessed their relationship.

“It’s true. Much love,” the Sun quoted Russell as saying in a text message.

He and the ‘I Kissed A Girl’ hit-maker are now celebrating their news in Thailand.

Brand revealed that both of them wore traditional Indian outfits, and were granted luck and divine happiness in a tent at the foot of a Jaipur mountain just before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Russell, star of movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall, surprised his lover with a ring as 2010 rolled in. He had earlier been spotted shopping for one at a London jeweller.

“Katy’s managed to tame me. This is it - I’m completely in love,” the star told a friend.

The pair first met just 3 and half months ago and the Asia trip was Katy’s Christmas gift from Russell. (ANI)
