October 27, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Honeymoon has just started for the celebrity couple Katy Perry and Russell Brand, who tied the knot in India at the Ranthambore National Park on October 23 following the Hindu rituals. But, they won’t have a peaceful honeymoon as a legal action has been taken by an environmental activist against the couple as well as two other people.

The couple had a grand wedding at the Ranthambore resort which was graced by a man-eater tiger. The activist named Akhshay Sharma has filed a criminal complaint against four of them saying that they violated the green laws during their wedding ceremony in the forests of Ranthambore.

On October 30, the complaint will be heard by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sawaimadhopur district. The complainant was quoted saying that the hotel authority, guests and the couple breached the forest area rules and regulations but neither the forest department nor the district administration took any action against them. Sharma said that he filed the complaint asking for court’s direction to investigate the matter.

Sharma further alleged that they visited the Ranthambore National Park on October 24 and during their visit they consumed liquor, smoked, carried weapons, changed route from No. 2 to No. 3 without taking permission, disturbed the endangered animals of the forest and even alighted from the vehicle (gypsy). He added that they even forced the paparazzi to alight from their vehicle and seized their vehicle keys in the park, where the tigers move about freely.

The complaint, further, added that no action was taken against them by the authorities. Sharma said that the wedding party played loud music in the resort at midnight thus, disturbing the local people as well as the wild animals. He indicated that these acts have violated Section 29, 30, 31 and 32 of Environment Protection Act.

District Collector Ravi Kant has been directed by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to investigate the noise pollution rules during the grand wedding.

Well, one thing is very astonishing that the authorities did not bother to stop them or provide them proper guidelines before the wedding and now some activist is coming out complaining against them. Now, if they are punished by the law, it will be like insulting your guests and if no action is taken no one will bother to care for Indian rules and regulations!
