July 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Fifty-nine year old Rush Limbaugh has sold his fully decorated New York City Fifth Avenue penthouse for a little under 12 million dollars, as he prepares to leave the city, and the increased taxes forever.

The home boasts of 10 rooms, featuring a 30 foot wide living room which has a fireplace, and four terraces which all overlook Central Park at East 86th Street. The contract was drawn up and signed on Thursday for a reported final price of 11.5 million dollars.

States taxes are the supposed reason for Limbaugh to leave New York entirely, since the state has adopted a temporary income tax surcharge which is slated to raise over 3 billion dollars a year. During a recent radio show, Rush told the state of New York to “drop dead.”

Rush initially asked for 13 million dollars for the property, which sold a year after Rush promised to leave the “Big Apple”. He purchased the condo in 1994 for just 5 million dollars. Although some question his wisdom in selling while the market is down, Rush was determined to do so.

“Basically I go to New York now for hurricane relief, whenever a hurricane hits. No other reason to go there. Well, sometimes I visit the overrated staff, but it would be cheaper to fly the staff down here to visit me than to pay these stupid tax increases!” he stated.
