Oct 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Erica Albright could well be one of the main reasons that 500 million people across the planet are connected by one SNS today. According to the movie ‘The Social Network’, she dumped Mark Zuckerberg one evening which made him angry enough to create an application that compares two women in the campus and helps decide who is more attractive. In a drunken state, the jilted boyfriend also manages to crash the Harvard server in a matter of hours. His actions gets him the attention of the Winklevoss twins and it is with their and Eduardo Saverin’s help that the Facebook phenomenon is born.

The role of Erica Albright is a crucial one in the movie, according to many of the critics, Rooney Mara, who plays the role in ‘The Social Network’ has played her part to perfection. The rest of the film has, however, very few female characters and Mark Zuckerberg himself is shown oblivious to the women in his class who constitute about 50 percent of it. Erica Albright is one of the many women that Marc Zuckerberg manages to offend in his quest for fame and acceptance. Rooney Mara’s performance stands out in the movie which is primarily male and business centric.

‘The Social Network’ also stars Justin Timberlake who plays the role of Sean Parker. Mark Zuckerberg’s character is played by Jesse Eisenberg and he is portrayed as a nerd who goes on to become a billionaire in a manner not entirely ethical and moral. The films has been received well at the box office and has already crossed the $8 million mark.
