Roman Polanski’s plea to have child-sex case dismissed rejected
December 22nd, 2009 - 5:35 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )London, December 22 (ANI): A California appeal court has rejected Roman Polanski’s plea to have child sex case against him dismissed.
The filmmaker’s lawyers had argued that a Los Angeles judge, now deceased, engaged in “backroom manipulations” while handling the case in 1977.
The California 2nd District Court of Appeal declared its judgement on its website, adding that three justices had agreed to reject the petition.
However it added that they remained “deeply concerned that these allegations of misconduct have not been addressed by a court.
“Polanski’s allegations urgently require full exploration and then, if indicated, curative action for the abuses alleged here.”
Meanwhile, Polanski remains in his Swiss chalet with an electronic bracelet tagged by the Swiss authorities to stop him from absconding, reports the BBC.
‘The Pianist’ helmer had pleaded guilty to having unlawful sex with an underage girl in 1977, only to later flee from US.
But, he was arrested in Zurich on 26 September this year, where he had gone to pick lifetime achievement award.
Now, he is trying hard to avoid extradition to America. (ANI)
